Jack Hadley’s 2020 release is “Daybreak In Alabama – The Langston Hughes Project.” The guitarist/singer has written nine songs based on the poetry of Langston Hughes, a leading figure of the Harlem Renaissance. Here we have universal themes of spirituality, oppression, resilience, love and hope. The original concept was to write modern roots music that would pay homage to the Black American experience of the early-mid 20th century. This music is steeped in the blues with a nod to folk, jazz, blues-rock and soul music.
